Litteraly. I saw these leaves while walking across the street last week. The colors really jumped out at me, they were so beautiful and ironically I found that beauty in a gutter.

It goes to show you, always keep your eyes open.

I copied Heather aka [info]buttfacemakani  again. She did the 'draw yourself as a teenager' meme and so did I.

This was fun.

P.S. I had asked what some people what "meme" means, but I could not find anyone who could tell me, so I looked it up. I had thought it was internet-slang that was essentially a self defining "onomatopoeia-ish" word that literally meant "Me! Me!", but I was wrong, way wrong. It actually has a proper definition that is some-what suited to these self indulgent surveys and drawings.

Meme (mēm) -n. A unit of cultural information, such as a cultural practice or idea, that is transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another.

Strengths Finder

This just in narcissistic nerd just learned more about himself.

All kidding aside I love to take these types of personalities tests and quizzes. This one is called Strengths Finder, and it comes with a book. You need to get to book to be able to log on and take the test. I first got wind of it a few months ago when all the BIOLA kids took it for a leadership class, I wanted to try it out then but never had a reason to, until now that is. My entire Life Group, aka Small Group Bible Study, took it. It helps us function and understand each other better individually and as a group.

The test determines what your top 5 strengths are from a pool of 34. And from what I read about mine, it seems pretty accurate, at least it is very insightful. Here is mine.

I always fall for the fictional girls. Le sigh... Any who because of my regular obsession with Harry Potter and my reinvigorated interest in Buffy I decided to draw two or my all time favorite fictional ladies. I should have added Demona into the mix, but I didn't think of that until right now.

Okay nerd question... Who would win in a brawl Willow or Hermione? I think Hermione knows more, but I would argue Willow has more raw magical power, mind you at one point she did almost destroy the world. Maybe if Hermione recruited Xander she would be to defeat her. Lol I dunno. Now I wanna draw a little comic of Harry, Hermione, and Ron versus Buffy, Willow, and Xander. Oh what fun would that be.

I got to meet Tony Hale tonight! And I did a drawing. And he liked it. And because he liked it so much I gave it to him.
Thats right! I ripped a page out of my sketch book, and that isn't something that happens everyday.
(On that back was my drawing of Dan in Real Life).

A few weeks ago some good friends of mine from The Leaky Cauldron were invited by special invitation to meet J. K. Rowling in New York. I was able to write Ms. Rowling a letter, and a small doodle, they were kind enough to pass the letter onto her! This made me very happy! Who knew that I was such a nerd.

Did you know that I like cats too?

Pushing Daisies is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows, scratch that, its quickly becoming my favorite show. It is wonderfully written, performed, and constructed. It's a wonderful blend of humor, heart, and some good old dark comedy. And to top it off Jim Dale is the narrator for it. If you haven't watched it please give it an episode or two, i would hate for it to go off of the air. Watch for free at abc.com.

Six years ago today tragedy hit our shores. It was a Tuesday morning at 7:22 am and I was late. I had just woken up, and I needed to be at Aaron Brothers by 8:00am to open the store. I managed to pull myself out of bed and made my way out of my room down the hallway and into the kitchen, I saw my mother in watching TV in the living room. She was getting ready for work while watching the news. She told me there was some sort of accident in New York, an airplane had crashed into a tower. I am embarrassed to say my "pressing" needs to make it to work by 8:00am eclipsed any concern for this matter. I gave my mother a peck on the cheek and ran out to my car. The car ride down Mountain Ave. was smooth, before I knew it I was pulling into the parking lot of the Gateway Center on Central and Arrow. I knocked on the glass doors for someone to let me in. I had manged to be only a few minuets late. I greeted my coworkers as we made our way to the break room in the back. I asked the two of them if they heard about the accident in New York, they told me they had been watching it on the TV in the back. We were slowly getting the store ready when the second plane hit, I happened to be in the break room. I want to say it hit around 8:15 Pacific time, but regardless of the time it hit it was horrifyingly numbing. My brain did not process what was happening, and in many ways I still cant understand what how and why it happened. A second plane hit the other tower...How can this be and accident? It could not have been an accident. After this the day is a blur of frustration, anger, fear, doubt, and grief. Even now reflecting back on the day I can't recall much after 11:00am. I have spotted-memories through out the day; an offensive fax from the president of Aaron Brothers, a phone call about my night class being canceled, a myriad of news casts, and no airplanes flying over (my parents house was near an airport so air traffic was an expected thing).

What is so shocking to me is how detached I was from the whole situation. It was ashamedly easy for most of us Californians and West-coasters to go back to our normal way of life within a few days of the tragedy, aside from some limited air traffic inconvenience. In many ways I was separated from the actual stench of this travesty by the glass of the television screen, and drowned to the point of apathy in a sea of news telecasts. I hate to say that its true but i want to be very candid about this. All I could do was pray, and that I did. I know that is a very powerful tool, but I feel bad I was unable to any more. My heart still goes out to you who were directly effected, and especially those who lost family and friends.
